After a rough night of sleep (mostly thanks to Frank), I didn’t feel up to my scheduled run at race pace.
I still did manage to get in a run. I took a new route, starting near the cemetery entrance, heading east to Roehampton Gate on Sawyer’s Hill toward Richmond Gate and then back toward Cambrian Gate. I didn’t especially enjoy the steady uphill toward Richmond Gate – I think that tomorrow I’ll try the same run in reverse to see how it feels.
Legs felt okay overall but I was glad to not be pushing toward race pace. Speaking of, with no specific race in mind, I’m not entirely sure what my race pace would be. Based on my recent runs, 5’15” seems to be on the faster side of my average, so I’ll aim for that and see what happens. That’s about a 1 hour 51 minute half – slower than my fastest, but that was years ago and I’m definitely not in top form, so maybe it’s reasonable and aspirational.
