Yesterday was a day of conscious speed – or at least pace control. Today felt like a day of unconscious speed. I know that’s the point of pace runs, but it’s still nice to feel the benefits. Overall, I know that I’m still slow, but after a week or two of puttering along close to 6:00/km, today I was easily (thoughtlessly) running at much closer to 5:15, my target pace yesterday.
The run itself was an easy-to-plan out and back, starting at Cambrian Gate and running east toward Roehampton until I hit my midway point, today, 2.4km. Downhill out, uphill coming back.
Early start to the day meant that the temperature was perfect, the trail was nearly empty and I was happy. For something different, I also tried doing my streak workout before my run, which seemed to help me feel ready to run when I started. Probably 6 minutes well spent.
